Wired alarm systems are more expensive but are more effective through the use of electricity whereas wireless systems are cheaper and work less effectively.

It actually works by determining the amount of temperature that the area that the device is place and detects the change of the temperature which a person is in the area. This is made possible through an infrared sensor and can determine if someone is really present and prevents activation of the alarm system if the temperature changes but no one is present. Another type is the ultrasonic detector which detects motion of a moving object or person with the change of sound waves the frequency that these devices use range in between 25 kHz and 75 kHz which humans are incapable of hearing.
